Greek Theater

1. The kinds of dramas that were performed in theaters in ancient Greece are tragedy and comedy. The tragedy is a serious drama about common themes such as love, hate, war, or betrayal. They featured a main character or tragic hero who usually was important and had extraordinary abilities. A tragic flaw like excessive pride brought down the character at the end of the drama. A comedy is a play filled with slapstick situations and crude humor. They made fun of politics and respected people all the time.

2. When I was in 5th grade I was in a play. The whole 5th-grade class had to be in it, and it was our duty to make and present the play We had colorful costumes and sets to make the play more believable. We had singing and dancing in it too.

3. This is an Ancient Greek theater. They were outside because plays were done in late winter and early spring due to the climate being so hot. They also needed light so it was better if they were outside in the day time. Some theaters could hold up to 15,000 spectators.

  1. 15,000 spectators! Just imagine attending a play back then, in a theater the size of a modern sports arena, and being able to hear every word without the use of microphones and speakers. The Greeks were geniuses.
