This is a Parthenon, a former temple on the Athenian Acropolis. It is dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena of war, handicraft, and city protectress of Athens. It was built in 447 BC under the rule of Pericles when the Athenian Empire was at the peak of its power. For a while, it was the treasury of the Delian League.




Temple of Apollo at Delphi - Destroyed Sites



This is the Temple of Apollo in Delphi, Greece. It is dedicated to the Greek god Apollo, he is the god of the light, music, and harmony. The temple was built in 7th BC by two legendary architects Trophonios and Agamedes. The religious sanctuary was home to the Oracle of Delphi and priestess Pythia. This is where offerings and statues of the gods were kept. Also, cult rituals took place.
